hello everyone, & welcome to a new legacy ♡
i used to love all of the old school legacies i read across blogs like blogspot, wordpress, and livejournal. they were so charming in their own ways. these past few weeks, i've been rereading some of my old favorites (as i do whenever i get into my sims binging). at first, i was nostalgic, and little melancholy that i had missed the 'golden era' so to speak. then i realized... what's stopping me?

so, i decided to pick one of my favorite sims, plop them down in a house, and start writing my very own legacy.
sure, it's more of a shack than a house, but it has a nice view! i don't think there are any bad views in isla paradiso, really.

the bedroom... barely.

the living area and kitchen

and the bathroom!

and here our are two lovely founders, bela & vanila madden.
bela is a sim born in-game to a sim i named after myself, dany, (but was not actually my simself!) and leighton sekemoto. so while she technically has a family, none of them are present in isla paradiso -- even though she was born pretty spoiled, it was time for bela to stand on her own two feet and leave sunset valley. the view there can't compare to the ocean and beaches here.

but not to worry, because bela doesn't have to start again on her own. the maddens' dog died before bela could walk and talk, and they never ended up getting another; so the first thing bela did before moving out was adopt little vanila, a cocker spaniel.
it doesn't hurt that dogs are fantastic money-makers in the beginning, so your sims aren't sleeping on the grass.

even though she looks like a doll, bela actually has a host of terrible traits. she's athletic, a genius, adventurous, evil, & grumpy. her lifetime wish is seasoned traveler, which means to get a level 3 visa in all three worlds available with world adventures, china, egypt, and france. she bottomed out her funds building her tiny house, so a career in crime seemed like the best place to gather a little money to put for her first trip.

ugh... this place is disgusting.

vanila: i will not let the repo man steal anything from mommy!

naturally the next step is meet your neighbors -- this house is only a few steps away from bela's house, separated only by a line of some trees. since whoever is inside would be seeing her in her underwear checking the mail on a daily basis, she figured she might as well introduce herself.

and who would it be, but emilio lucero, generation 10 of the lucero legacy. even though jessica doesn't post anymore, the lucero legacy is one that i reread constantly-- so you might see a few of her sims throughout this one!

emilio was kind enough to let bela in- wanting to chit chat with his new neighbor. turns out, he had moved from moonlight falls to start anew just like she had.

bela: you had how many siblings?
emilio: seven! and i was a triplet, i had a brother finn, and a sister, callie.
bela: and i thought it was annoying to have just one little sister.
emilio: it wasn't that bad. we were all pretty close.

even though they were having a cheery time, bela apparently couldn't repress her grumpy trait for long, choosing to start arguing with emilio.

emilio: did i say something wrong...?

even her angry face is cute, though....

after that, i decided to separate them before bela completely ruined the friendship they had begun to build up, and shipped her off to the gym. gotta feed that athletic trait, not just for her criminal activities, but so she can hoist that pickaxe over her head as well.

and it's there that she met paden capulet! pretty good looking, right?

bela wasn't too sure, though... still lingering on emilio's hurt face when you picked a fight with him, honey?

ah well, might as well do what she came here to do.

paden, however, was a little upset bela wasn't paying attention to him anymore.

i swear, she really does have the athletic trait.

you'll get the hang of it, honey.

at least vanila remains unproblematic. she's actually so cute, i don't always love pets in sims- sometimes they tend to become a nuisance more than a help or fun addition, but i do love vanila.

vanila: i can't see the window, but i know mommy will be coming home soon...

during all this, vanila had been working hard at hunting for gems and rocks, and since bela couldn't afford her own gem cutter, she decided to take a trip to the elixir shop.

of course, she couldn't go in without enjoying the flowers... look at how cute! i love the way sims sniff the flowers they pick.

bela must like this place, even though it's completely empty... i will say though it's beautifully decorated! i wish i could remember where i downloaded it- i can't remember the name right now, i'll have to get it next time i go in game and see if a username is attached.

bela: so i just... drop the gem in on this end, and it comes out the other?

YOINK!

bela: ooohh... shiny.

this is exactly what having a dog is like.
vanila: mommy? are you okay? i hate baths, so mommy must be annoyed too. i'll sit here so she feels more comfortable.

one of the gems that vanila found is tiberium- apparently it grows and can be worth up to 40,000 simoleons, so i decided to let it wait. eventually though, this one didn't get much bigger, so i ended up selling it for only around 7,500. unfortunate.

bela: who's a good girl? who's a good girl? it's you!
vanila: it's me!!

they're so cute, and they look so good together!! bela and vanila kind of remind me of myself and my own dog, always attached at the hip and having lots of wishes about each other. not that i know my own dog's wishes, but i think if she had any they'd be similar!

spying on your neighbor, bela?

bela: none of my other neighbors are as cute as emilio. and there's a zombie.

bela: oh gosh! he's home, emilio is home. should i call him?

bela: is that coming on too strong? we've talked a few times, but i want to call him...

bela: okay, okay, i'll do it...
emilio: hello?
bela: hey! how are you?

emilio: nice timing! i'm okay, i just got back from work. same stuff, different day.
she's sweet on him... she keeps having wishes to talk and touch and fondle him. she also just up and ignored the zombie? in the background? the entire time? at least go INSIDE.

i'm glad you bought a table just to use it as another counter and eat on your little plush seat.

after saving up her money, bela decided it was finally time to go on her first vacation- but she didn't want to leave vanila all by her lonesome. the best thing to do, of course, was to ask her cute neighbor to dog-sit.

vanila: i'm so good. i'll be a good girl for mommy's crush.

bela: so... would you please take care of vanila for me? she's a real good girl. as long as she has her toys, she won't chew on anything.

emilio: sure, i don't mind watching her. how long are you going to be gone?
bela: oh, only three days! not too long at all!

bela: do you need my key, or do you want to watch her here?
emilio: either one is fine with me. i hope you have a good time, by the by. i've never been to china, but i'm sure it's beautiful, so you'll fit right in.
bela: w-what...?

bela couldn't ask him anymore though, since she had to catch her plane- however, his comment occupied her thoughts for the next several hours while she traveled.
and that's the end of this chapter, guys! next chapter, china! although i'm posting both this and another chapter to kick off this blog, so there's no need to wait, go ahead!
